Profile: I have been a full time badminton coach for eight years working for the local authorities and clubs in Greater Manchester and Cheshire. During this time I have met and coached countless of players from age 5 to 90, beginners to elite players and some of these players have now become friends for life. I find it very rewarding watching players develop to their fullest potential not only on a badminton court but also in life. As well as being a qualified level 2 badminton coach, I am also a qualified coach in football, netball, hockey and multi-sports for people with disabilities. I enjoy playing and watching most sports although in the last few years, I have been struggling to play regularly due to pregnancies and long-term injuries. I feel that sport is a great way to bring people from all different backgrounds together and it allows them to share and enjoy their experience in their chosen sport. I hope you will enjoy your experience with us at FBA and meet lots of new friends as well as achieving your fullest potential in badminton.

Profile: I have been playing badminton since the age of 10 and coaching since the age of 18. I made my England debut against Malaysia and won! I have been lucky enough to have coached 6 national champions and 30 county champions and still love the buzz of a player I have coached winning. I am still playing and still love the feel of a competitive game. Recently came back from India, coaching the Falkland Island team in the commonwealth youth games.

Profile: I have been involved with badminton for most of my life, my dad got me involved at an early age and I have never looked back once. I have been lucky to play, umpire and coach at a very high level. Now I am a professional coach it is very rewarding to see players enjoying the sport as much as I do and I hope with the help of Futures Badminton Academy we can give them a rewarding experience that will keep them involved with badminton for a long time.

Academy Coach and Child Welfare Officer

Profile: I started playing badminton when I was 11 and then had a really long break (of 20 years or so) during which time I travelled the world, went to university, had children, built a career etc. Anyway, it's safe to say that I am back to being obsessed with the sport! I have been playing again and coaching for a few years now and specialise in helping our players to get the basics right and to learn to fully enjoy all aspects of being involved in the sport, hopefully cultivating a life-long interest. I am the child protection officer for Futures Badminton Academy LLP. I take this role very seriously and recognise the importance and value of sport in youth development. I really enjoy all aspects of coaching and I enjoy seeing how much pleasure all players get from the sport, whatever their age or ability.

Profile: I have been playing badminton for over 10 years during this time I have represented Cheshire County as a junior and also as a '17-21' player. I have recently qualified as a life guard and I am going to start my Badminton level 1 assistant coach training in October which hopefully will enable me to assist the more experienced coaches at Futures Badminton Academy. As well as playing badminton most nights competing in the Stockport league, the Tameside league, the Manchester league, the Bolton league and the Lancashire Inter league, I also try to go to the gym at least 3 times a week and to play tennis with my parents and my friends once a week. Gavin, Mark and Emily had been my coach during my earlier years as a Cheshire junior, not only did they help me to develop my badminton skills, they also help me through the transition of leaving the junior set up and entering into the senior badminton
environment. They also encouraged me to become a qualified badminton coach and have agreed to be my mentor during my learning process and provide me with opportunity to shadow them. Futures Badminton Academy has helped me to develop both on court and in life, given the opportunity I hope that I will be able to help and support other FBA members to do the same!
